This report provides an overview of the issues and trends that emerged from mapping studies on aid effectiveness, gender equality and women’s empowerment in Indonesia, Nepal and Papua New Guinea. The studies sought to provide data on the extent to which national priorities for achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment are reflected in national development strategies, donor country specific strategies and programmes as well as the various modalities for development assistance, including sector-wide approaches, general budget support and multi-donor trust funds.

Rooted in the ground realities of women, the publication highlights a range of experiences in the South Asian region, including socio-cultural hierarchies and economic opportunities.

This report highlights lessons learned from ten pilot projects that used a programme guide created by UNFPA to help health care providers address gender-based violence. It also summarizes presentations from ten experts on gender-based violence and recommendations from the three working groups.

This guide is the first of its kind to provide an overview of the current range of local representative arrangements and electoral systems in Asia and the Pacific. This easy-to-use guide will assist country offices/teams and government partners as programmes are shaped to make local decision-making processes more inclusive and accountable to all citizens.

This consolidated response highlights the role of international organizations, national governments, and non-profit women’s organizations in mainstreaming gender into national policies and legislation of the South-East Asian countries.
