Corruption and Women

Corruption affects men and women differently. Women are subjects and objects of different corrupt practices and behavior. Therefore, their specific needs, roles and experiences need to be taken into consideration, particularly with the development of accountability, transparency and participatory mechanisms. In order to formulate effective interventions, it is important to look at women’s empowerment and its impact on corruption. We are currently researching the linkages between anti-corruption policies and gender relation. We would greatly appreciate if you share with us your thoughts and experiences on the following issues:

  • Positive and successful experiences to empower women in successfully combating corruption, specially during a political campaign or once she is elected
  • Particular role of women caucuses on creating and implementing anti-corruption policies and measures
  • Obstacles and failures of such interventions but also how anti-corruption campaigns can have an impact on women's daily lives.
  • Looking forward to hearing your thoughts in this discussion circle!
