Our Stories
  • In order to give voice to these invisible actors, the United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (UN-INSTRAW) and the Associazione Diaspora e Pace (ADEP) are organizing a conference on Women, Peace and Security in Somalia, within the framework of Resolution 1325 and strengthening women's participation in conflict resolution and peace-building processes.
  • Women are slipping back from positions of power in Britain, a report suggests, as the government publishes its views on what can be done to solve the problem of women's representation in public life.
  • In a move to encourage the participation of women in these elections, the government brought in a 30% quota for women candidates in each party. Increasing the number of women up from the current 15% in parliament could help improve such things as basic services, which are usually more of a priority for women than men.
